ECTS (European Credit Transfer System)
A Common Language of Academic Recognition

ECTS, European Credit Transfer System, was developed by the Commission of the European Communities in order to provide common procedures to guarantee academic recognition of studies abroad. It provides a way of measuring and comparing learning achievements and transferring them from one institution to another. This is achieved through the use of a common ECTS credit unit and a common ECTS grading scale. ECTS also improves access to information on foreign curricula.

The ECTS system is based on the principle of mutual trust and confidence between the participating higher education institutions. The ECTS Guide provides general information about Tallinn University of Technology and study programs available in the Faculty of Economics. The transcript of records shows every course taken and completed by the student with the ECTS credits and the ECTS grades according to the local grading scale.
